Canonical has released Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot. The latest version of the popular Linux distribution is available for download and features a number of changes including an updated kernel and updates to the Unity user interface. The default web browser has also been updated to Firefox 7.
There’s a new login screen, an improved application switcher when you press the Alt+Tab buttons, and new desktop wallpapers.
Ubuntu 11.10 also features an improved Ubuntu Software Center which, among other things, let’s you synchronize installed applications across multiple computers.
You can download the latest version of Ubuntu and burn it to a CD, copy it to a USB stick, or download a Windows-based installer that lets you dual boot Windows and Ubuntu. There’s also a nifty new Ubuntu Tour which lets you check out some of the key features in a web browser before you download the operating system.
