OCOSMOS OCS9

Dynamism is taking orders for the OCOSMOS OCS9 tablet. This 10 inch tablet runs Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit and features a 1.5 GHz Intel Atom Z670 Oak Trail processor. It’s aimed at the gaming crowd and customer can also pick up an Ocosmos Smart O-Bar accessory which can be used as a wireless remote control and gamepad.

The OCOSMOS OCS9is up for pre-order for $649 and the Smart O-Bar runs an extra $140. The tablet is expected to ship on November 30th, and customers that get their orders in by November 18th will get a $50 discount.

I got an early look at the devices that would eventually become the OCS9 at CES in January. It’s taken almost a year, but it looks like the productwill finally be ready to ship soon.

The tablet features a 1280 x 800 pixel display, 2 USB 2.0 ports, a microSD card slot, an HDMI port, and a 3650mAh battery which should provide up to 6 hours of run time. There’s a front-facing 1.3MP camera, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS. The tablet is available with 16GB or 32GB of storage thanks to a solid state disk.

The Smart O-Bar has its own 3.5 inch 480 x 320 pixel display as well as an accelerometer and gyroscope, which lets you use it to control games or other activities in a variety of different ways.

When I think of gaming, I don’t usually think of Intel Atom chips — and even the custom touch-friendly user interface appears a bit sluggish in the demo videos. But the Atom Z670 processor should be able to handle HD video playback and some 3D video games. Check out the last 30 seconds of the demo video below to see a few examples of games running very smoothly on the OCS9.
