Huawei MediaPad FCC

The Huawei MediaPad is an Android tablet with a 7 inch display and a 1.2 Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon dual core processor. The first US distributor for the tablet will be T-Mobile, although the wireless carrier calls the Mediapad the T-Mobile SpringBoard.

Now the MediaPad has passed through the FCC website, wearing its own name. You can find more photos, a user manual, and other details. Here are some of the highlights:

  • The tablet has a removable battery protected by a plastic cover on the back of the device.
  • The user manual recommends using a hands-free device if talking on the tablet while driving, and avoiding use o f the tablet near flammable and explosive materials such as gas stations, oil depots, or chemical plants. You also shouldn’t store the MediaPad in a box with explosives. Seriously, it says that.
  • The tablet has a speaker, mic, camera, HDMI port, micro-USB port, headphone jack, camera, and light sensor.
  • There’s a 15.2 Whr, 4100mAh battery.

The Huawei MediaPad weighs about 0.86 inch pounds, measures about 0.4 inches thick, and features GPS, WiFi, and 3G. It has 8GB of storage and runs Google Android 3.2 Honeycomb.

The tablet has a 1280 x 800 pixel IPS display. T-Mobile expects to stock the tablet before the holidays, but the company hasn’t yet said how much the MediaPad (SpringBoard) will cost.

One reply on “Huawei MediaPad tablet crosses the FCC”

  1. had a play with one today. Looks nice, resolution is stunning on the screen. However it does still feel a bit ‘china tablet’ and it’s scrolling through the desktop stuff was actually a little jerky. Compared to the A100 (that doesn’t have 3G but is quite a bit cheaper than this) I’m not sure what it’s draw is. It was for sale for $3998 HKD as opposed to approx $3000 that the A100 is now.
