Someone at Asus has apparently decided to slap the Eee Pad Slider with a coat of white paint. The tablet with the slide-out keyboard is now available with brown or white finishes
The new white model is available from Amazon for $479. That’s the same price as its darker cousin.
Aside from the color change there’s nothing new here. The tablet still has a 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor, 1GB of RAM, 15GB of storage, and Google Android 3.2 Honeycomb.
The Eee Pad Slider has a 10.1 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel IPS display with a capacitive touchscreen, WiFi and Bluetooth, a microSD card port, USB port, and mini HDMI port, and GPS.
The defining characteristic of the Slider is the QWERTY keyboard. It’s a little small and cramped — so I don’t see the Slider becoming a full-fledged laptop replacement for many users. But if you’re tired of trying to tap out long email messages on tablets with on-screen keyboards, the Slider is an interesting alternative.
