This summer Chinese retail service Alibaba introduced a new operating system called Aliyun OS, as well as the first smartphone designed to run the OS. Now the company is preparing to launch new devices including an updated phone and an Aliyun OS tablet.
The new phone is called the W800 and it has a 4.3 inch display and an NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor. There’s not much information about the tablet yet, but it’s expected to launch in November.
While it’s hard to imagine Aliyun OS phones or tablets making a big splash in the Western Hemisphere, Alibaba is a major player in the East and the devices could stand a chance in areas where iOS and Android aren’t as entrenched.
