Samsung is continuing its quest to put out a tablet with every imaginable screen size. The company already has tablets with 7, 8.9, and 10.1 inch displays. Now we can add a 7.7 inch model to the lineup.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7

But it’s not just the screen size that sets the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 apart from other tablets. It’s also the first Android tablet to feature a Super AMOLED display. It also has a 1280 x 800 pixel screen resolution, which offers much higher pixel density than you’ll find on 9 and 10 inch tablets with the same resolution.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 has a 1.4 GHz dual core processor, 16GB to 64GB of storage, a 3MP rear camera and 2MB front camera, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, USB 2.0 host capabilities, and Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system.

While there’s not much information about the processor, Samsung says the tablet can handle 1080p HD video playback. That includes DivX and H.264. You can also use the tablet as a universal remote control for your TV, DVD player, or other home theater gear.

You also get Samsung’s Social Hub app which puts updates from your Facebook, Twitter, and other social networking accounts into one place, as well as Samsung’s Readers Hub, Music Hub, and Game Hub.

Like other Samsung phones and tablets, the Galaxy Tab 7.7 will come with TouchWiz, Samsung’s software interface that runs on top of Android. It includes Live Panel home screen widgets, mini apps that show up in small windows when you just want to bring up a calculator, calendar, music player or another app, and tweaks to the settings and quick panel. You can find out more about TouchWiz for Honeycomb tablets in my hands-on with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.

The tablet has a 5100mAh battery and measures 7.7″ x 5.2″ x 0.3″ and weighs 0.7 pounds.

Samsung is positioning the device as a tablet, but it can also work as a phone. There’s a “receiver” mode that lets you make calls privately without blasting the audio over the speaker for everyone to hear. The Tab 7.7 also supports HSPA+, Edge, and GPRS mobile internet connections.
