O!Play Mini Plus

Asus is adding a new member to its O!Play family of media streaming devices. A few years ago I took the original O!Play for a spin, and while I was underwhelmed by the user interface, I was impressed with how well the device could stream videos to my TV from any device on my home network.

Since then Asus has offered additional versions of the O!Play featuring USB 3.0, WiFi, and hard drive bays. Now the company is launching a new model called the O!Play Mini Plus which can stream media over your home network or from the internet.

You can use the device to stream a wide range of formats to a TV including MKV, WMV,  Xvid, RMVB, MPG, VOB, ISO, MP3, WAV, OGG, AAC, and FLAC. It also supports common video subtitle formats and image formats for photo slideshows.

The O!Play Mini Plus connects to the internet over WiFi or Ethernet and allows you to access media from YouTube, DailyMotion, Picasa, Flickr, and other websites. There’s also a Facebook app and support for Acetrax, an online video-on-demand service from Europe.
