As promised, HP has released a software update for the TouchPad tablet, offering performance, security, and stability improvements and a number of new features. The HP TouchPad has a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon dual core processor, but early reviewers all complained that the tablet felt slow. Hopefully webOS 3.0.2 will speed things up a bit.
Specifically, HP says the new software features speedier calendar event creation, faster scrolling in the email app, and speed improvements in the photos and videos app. The company says the text auto-correct feature is also faster and more accurate.
WebOS 3.0.2 also offers better management for multiple email messages in draft and outbox views, reduced audio skipping when playing music while multitasking.
All told, HP says there are hundreds of changes in the latest software update, but you can read the highlights in the release notes.
HP’s first tablet with the webOS operating system has a 9.7 inc, 1024 x 768 pixel display, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage. It sells for about $450 and up.
Update: The folks at PreCentral report that the tablet feels a little faster after installing update, especially when using the email app.
Nope it doesnt
Finally a bit of good news about this tablet. Let’s hope the next update clears up more of the freeze and lag issues.
