Thanks to the ridiculous price drop on the HP TouchPad, it’s quickly become the most sought-after tablet around — and the hardest to find. As new owners settle in to see what their $99 purchase can do, there’s a good chance that they’re firing up the web browser and checking to see if their favorite streaming video services work on the TouchPad.

Initially, some users were pleasantly surprised to learn that Hulu worked just fine. In keeping with its own historical precedent, however, PreCentral reports that Hulu has now begun blocking access to users who connect to the service using an HP TouchPad. As you can see, they’re sorry for the inconvenience.

If watching Hulu on a tablet was a major factor in your decision to purchase a TouchPad, there’s a simple solution. With TouchPads now selling for $300-plus on eBay, you could easily sell yours and pick up a tablet like Vizio’s $329 8-incher, which offers fully-sanctioned Hulu viewing.

There are, of course, plenty of other video services that still work just fine on the TouchPad — like YouTube Movies, VUDU, and HP’s own Movie Store (as long as it stays up and running, anyhow).

  1. There is already a fix for that. Check it out.. https://informationmadness.com/technology/tech-tips/4112-how-to-bypass-hulu-block-on-hp-touchpad.html

  2. The fix is insanely simple…  Change your agent script in Settings.  Woot, problem solved.

    1. So I paid some jack ass 150 bucks to do this and he couldn’t do it. What gives

  3. The response to this news is funny.  It’s like when people make a big fuss when they get pulled over speeding, not because they broke the law but because they got caught.  It’s entertaining to watch people who don’t understand computing experience the fruits of their wisdom.  This is the Dark Ages of computing in which we’ve returned to a pre-PC system of intervening operators and network services required for us to experience the fullness of our devices.  I’m sure the fix is even more bad decisions, so go ahead and pray for Android on your Touchpad.  Laughing Out Loud.

    1. Your analogy fails on SOOO many levels.

Hulu is blocking them because of the tablet they are using, not because they’re viloating the ToS or any other logical reason.

To use your analogy it’s like they were driving down the freeway and got pulled over because they’re in a Ford.

So you can talk like an expert, and declame this Dark Age.  However the first part of your argument makes it very hard for me to take you or your comment seriously.
