The HP TouchPad tablet features WiFi and Bluetooth, and the company plans to offer a 4G model with an HSPA+ modem for use on AT&T’s mobile broadband network soon. HP hasn’t yet announced pricing for that model, but that hasn’t stopped Amazon from starting to take pre-orders for a 4G version of the tablet. You can order one now for $699.99, but there’s no word on when it will actually ship.
While the WiFi-only Touchpad tablet normally sells for $499, this weekend HP, Woot, and other retailers offered discounts letting you pick one up for as little as $300.
HP’s tablet has a 9.7 inch, 1024 x 768 pixel display and the webOS 3.0 operating system. It’s the first tablet designed to run webOS, which was initially designed for Palm smartphones before HP acquired Palm.
The WiFi version of the tablet has a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, but the 4G model is expected to use a faster 1.5 GHz Snapdragon chip.
