Acer Iconia Tab A100

Acer’s been showing off a 7 inch Android tablet since January, but now you can finally buy one. The Acer Iconia Tab A100 officially went on sale in the US today with a starting price of about $329.

The tablet features a 7 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display, a 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor and Google Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system.

The Iconia Tab A100 has 8GB of stroage, 1GB of RAM, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, a speaker and mic, microUSB port, headset jack, micro HDMI port, and microSDHC card reader.

Acer has placed a 5MP rear camera and 2MP front-facing camera on the tablet, and outfitted it with an 11.3 Whr, 1530mAh battery which the company says will provide up to 5 hours of run time. The tablet measures 7.7″ x 4.6.” x 0.5″ and weighs about 0.9 pounds.

While I wouldn’t mind seeing a higher capacity battery (this seems like the same kind of battery you’d expect to find in a phone, not a tablet), the Iconia Tab A100 is one of the first 7 inch tablets with Honeycomb to hit the market. So if all the 10 inch Honeycomb tablets we’ve seen this summer are a little too big for you, this little guy might be worth checking out.

Adorama appears to be one of the first retailers with the Acer Iconia Tab A100 in stock. It’s up for pre-order at a number of other sites.

Update: Engadget has already posted a review, as has Gizmodo. They don’t seem impressed. This Is My Next has a hands-on overview.

  1. Too bad about the battery life. I am glad to see something other than a 10″ released.
