Samsung NC215s

The Sasmung NC215S is the first netbook with a solar panel built right into the case. The company says you should be able to get 1 hour of battery life for every two hours of charging time in the sun. While Samsung told me a few weeks ago that the laptop would be available for purchase in the US during the week of July 3rd (which just ended), it looks like stores are just now starting to take orders for the solar powered mini-laptop.

Netbook News noticed that Amazon is now taking pre-orders for the Samsung NC215S for $399. Meanwhile Provantage has it listed as a “special order” which could take 3 to 4 weeks to deliver. Provantage is charging $391.

The laptop has a 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel matte display, a 1.66 GHz Intel Atom N570 dual core processor, and 1GB of memory.

Update: The release date has been pushed back until mid-to-late August.
