Samsung’s Series 9 notebook line feature laptops which are thin, light, stylish, and rather expensive. The company introduced a version with a 13.3 inch display earlier this year with a starting price of $1599 and an 11.6 inch model for $1200. Now, Samsung is launching new models at lower prices.
They’re still not exactly cheap though. An 11 inch Samsung Series 11 will run $1049 when configured with 2GB of RAM, a 64GB SSD, and an Intel Core i3-2357M processor. A model with the same CPU but 4GB of RAM and a 128GB solid state disk will run $1249. Both models are scheduled to ship in August.
Samsung is also lowering the price of entry-level 13.3 inch Series 9 laptop. A model with an Intel Corei4-2467M CPU, 4GB of RAM, and a 128GB hard drive is now available for $1349. For an extra $300 you can get a 256GB SSSD and a top-of-the line model with 6GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and an Intel Core i7-2617M CPU runs $2049.
The 13 inch laptops weigh 2.89 pounds and measure 0.62 inches thick. They get an estimated 7 hours of battery life. I haven’t seen detailed specs for the dimensions or battery life on the 11 inch models yet.
Whooaaaa why is it that you gadget blog guys seem to copy each other. A 11″ samsung 9 has been out already… this is just a refresh not something completely new. Engadget already made this mistake.Â
Unless dynamism have been lying for several months as it is in stock now and has been for some time.
You can probably blame our poor reading comprehension skills. The press release only mentions new models, not the existing models — but you’re right, a quick Google search would have reminded me that a 11.6 inch model was already available. I’ve updated the post.Â
Bonus points for doing something about it! Liking this site better already.
