Lenovo has been offering ultraportable ThinkPad laptops with 11.6 inch displays for a couple of years. But while the Lenovo ThinkPad X100e and ThinkPad X120e both featured low-power AMD processors, the company’s latest model will be available with a choice of AMD or Intel chips.
The new laptop appears to be launching initially in Japan and Europe. Processor options will include:
- 1 GHz AMD C-50 dual core processor with Radeon HD 6250 graphics
- 1.6 GHz AMD E-350 dual core processor with Radeon HD 6310 graphics
- 1.3 GHz Intel Core i3-2357M dual core processor with Intel HD Graphics 3000
The laptop will measure 11.4″ x 8.2″ x 1.1″ with a six cell battery. A 3 cell battery option will also be available for some models. The laptop has a 1366 x 768 pixel display and will be available with Windows 7 Home Premium or Professional, a 320GB hard drive, and 2GFB to 8GB of storage.
Like other Lenovo business notebooks the ThinkPad X121e will feature the TrackPoint system with a pointing stick in the center of the keyboard as well as a touchpad and mouse buttons below the keyboard. The laptop has a no-nonsense black case design, and the keyboard features flat keys with rounded edges.
The intel version is the one that is worth getting, despite the fact that it does not packs a discrete GPU. See the review here to more about the Intel X121e –Â https://mobilityupdate.com/notebooks/lenovo-x121e-review/
Casing design is a little different, moving the battery placement slightly to a DM1-like design. So the battery takes up space below the screen and the 6 cell won’t stick out the back like on the X120e. Though some people may prefer that as it gives something to grab a hold of while holding it with one arm.
Consequently, this also means the keyboard is moved slightly downwards with this design and the screen lid is pushed down a bit when open and you may not be able to push it as far back as it’ll now push against the case past a certain angle.
Lowering the screen lid also means that the VGA port and power supply port had to be moved to the side instead of the rear.
Except the Intel CPU option what is the difference between the x120e and the x121e?
the look… i prefer the x120e design with the battery sticking out, its really not a design flaw as some people suggest.
Glad to see AMD getting some love.
