Fujitsu F-07C

Windows Phone 7 is nice and all… but if you’ve ever wished your phone could run a full-blown desktop operating system, you might want to get yourself over to Japan. On July 23rd Fujitsu will begin selling a smartphone running Windows 7 Home Premium.

The Fujitsu F-07C measures 4.9″ x 2.4″ x 0.8″ and weighs less than half a pound. It has a 4 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel touchscreen display and a 1.2 GHz Intel Atom Z600 processor. The phone has 32GB of storage, 1 GH of RAM, and a 5.1MP camera.

The device gets a whopping 2 hours of battery life when you use it as a PC. Fortunately there’s also a low power phone mode which gives you a little over 6 hours of talk time or 600 hours of standby time.

In Windows mode you can run full-blown desktop apps including Internet Explorer 9, Windows Media Player, and Microsoft Office. There’s also support for Adobe Flash Player and Microsoft Silverlight. There’s a slide-out QWERTY keyboard with a trackball and mouse button for navigating through the Windows user interface.

Fujitsu will also offer a separate docking station with USB and HDMA ports so you can connect a mouse, keybaord, monitor, or other peripherals.

The phone will be available from Japanese wireless carrier NTT Docomo.

  1. Put a resource-conservative Linux distro on it and I would be first in line to buy it.  Even MeeGo would work for me.

  2. If only it had a 5 inch screen,  faster CPU and at least 5 hours of real world battery life. Losing the entite phone side of it would be nice too.

    1. Probably will have to wait till Windows 8 comes out before you see such a device with more than 2 hours of run time.  Windows isn’t optimized to be very energy efficient in its present form and they’ve yet to make energy efficient hardware capable of running Windows that won’t draw much more power than less powerful devices like Android or iOS based systems.

However, this may be what the future of UMPC may look like, with dual purpose devices as the strongest market to push UMPC designs into now is the mobile market.

    2. +1

A 5 inch Windows 7 slider would be great! I’m using an N5 right now but a slider version would make it better.

    3. Yes, I hope Fujitsu will make a 5 inch OQO-like version of this. The phone part isn’t required for me either but I would like WWAN support.
