The Asus Eee Pad Slider is an Android tablet with a pull-out keyboard that hides away behind the screen when you’re not using it. It’s sort of like having a cross between a laptop and a tablet — if a laptop ran Android and worked with a touchscreen instead of a touchpad or mouse. Asus first introduced the device at CES in January, but the launch date has been pushed back several times.
Now it looks like the Eee Pad Slider could see the light of day soon. Asus Poland says the device could launch in that country in August. It will come in two different versions. One will have 16GB of storage and sell for $690 in Poland while a second model will have 32GB of storage and retail for $830. It’s likely to be cheaper in the US.
Meanwhile in the US you can pre-order the tablet from ExcaliberPC. There’s still no information on the US launch date or even the price, but the retailer has posted a product page with a detailed description of the device. It features a 10.1 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel IPS display, an NVIDIA Tegra 1 GHz dual core processor, front and rear cameras, HDMI output, GPS, and an 8 hour battery.
Last I’d heard, Asus North America planned to offer the Eee Pad Slider sometime this fall.
