The Acer Iconia Tab A500 is a 10 inch Android tablet that comes with 16GB or 32GB of storage. But it looks like a new 64GB model is in the works. Wireless Goodness spotted an FCC listing for an upcoming version of the tablet with an AT&T 3G modem and a 64GB solid state disk.
The new model actually gets a model number change. It’s the Acer Iconia Tab A501.
There’s no word on how much it will cost, but the new tablet is due out by the end of the summer.
Of course, if you really want more storage in your tablet you could just invest in a microSD card. Device makers tend to charge an arm and a leg for additional built-in storage, but flash cards are relatively cheap. The only catch is that Google Android 3.x Honeycomb doesn’t allow you to install apps to an SD card, so you’ll only be able to use it for storing music, movies, documents, or other files.
The Acer Iconia Tab A500 and A501 feature 10.1 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel displays, 1 GB of RAM, and NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processors.
This is good news, here’s hoping the other manufacturers follow suit. The ability to install apps on an SD card is one of the coolest features of  Froyo, so I can’t understand why Google would dump it in Honeycomb. Makes no sense at all to me, especially since all of the Honeycomb tablets I’ve seen have *some* sort of expandable storage.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 doesn’t, but you’re right. Pretty much all the other Honeycomb tablets do.
