Sure, all the cool kids in the Android tablet space are running Honeycomb these days… but it looks like Samsung hasn’t forgotten about the humble 7 inch Galaxy Tab released way back in 2010. The tablet currently runs Google Android 2.2 Froyo, but the folks at SprintFeed obtained a leaked document which suggests that an update will be available on July 5th bringing Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread to the tablet.
It’s not clear if the updated will only be available for Sprint customers or if the WiFi model and Galaxy Tab devices from other wireless carriers will be updated at the same time.
Honestly, there aren’t many huge differences between Google Android 2.2 and 2.3 aside from some security fixes, improved text selection, and better power management. But the software update will also bring HID Bluetooth capabilities to Samsung’s tablet.
