Asus UX21

Asus is expected to begin shipping the $200 Eee PC X101 with MeeGo Linux this summer. But it looks like we might have to wait until this fall to see the Eee PC 1025 which will be the first netbook from Asus with an Intel Atom Cedar Trail processor. DigiTimes reports that’s when Asus will begin shipping its Cedar Trail machines.

The computer maker is also expected to start offering the Asus UX21 thin and light laptop in September. This model will be one of the first “ultrabooks” to hit the market. Intel coined that word to describe thin and light laptops which will sell for under $1000. The Asus UX21 will come with a choice of an 11.6 inch display or a 13.3 inch screen. The smaller model will weigh 2.4 pounds and measure less than two thirds of an inch thick.

I got a chance to check out a UX21 prototype recently, and it’s an attractive little laptop with a decent display and keyboard — but the battery is not user replaceable.
