Chip maker Freescale introduced a new line of low power chips earlier this year based on single, dual, and quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 chips. At the time, all we really had to look at were spec sheets. But ARMDevices.net got more information about the new Freescale i.MX6 platform at this week’s Freescale Technology Forum.
The company is now demonstrating a reference design with a quad-core chip capable of some high performance 3D graphics and 1080p HD video playback, among other things. Freescale says they’ve tested the platform with Windows CE and Ubuntu Linux and seen excellent performance on both.
We probably won’t see actual products shipping with the 1.2 GHz quad-core processor until next year, but you can check out the videos after the break for more details.
That second promotional video is pretty impressive, a lot of inventive minds over at Freescale it would appear!
