Display maker Pixel Qi plans to show off a new 10 inch display at the Computex trade show in Taiwan starting later this month. The new screen has a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution, which just happens to be the same resolution found in nearly every 10 inch tablet shipping with Google Android 3.x Honeycomb — but as a company that manufactures parts rather than consumer electronics, Pixel Qi doesn’t get to tell us which companies will actually use the displays in upcoming tablets, notebooks, or other devices.
Pixel Qi’s screen technology provides a full color LCD experience when the backlight is turned on. But if you cut the backlight, the high contrast reflective displays are still viewable even in direct sunlight — but the colors nearly disappear so that in reflective mode the screens look more like black and white E Ink displays.
The company will also continue to show off the 7 inch screens it first introduced at CES in January.
