Habey has introduced a new version of its HD video decoder which is even smaller than the HB-VD904 PCIe mini card the company introduced last summer. The new Habey HB-VD920 is a half height PCI Express Mini card which you can add to any netbook, tablet, or desktop computer to enable support for 1080p HD video playback.

The HB-VD920 is based on Broadcom’s Crystal HD video chipset and support real-time decoding of AVC, VC-1, MPEG-2, and H.264 video as well as WMV, DiVX, and Xvid. The card uses less than 2W of power and reduces CPU consumption when watching HD video.

The card is designed to play well with computers using Intel Atom processors or other low power chips which might not normally be able to decode 720p or 1080p HD video.

The Habey HB-VD920 is from Amazon for $49.99.
