Fujitsu  has introduced its answer to the Samsung Series 7 Sliding PC. At first glance, the Fujitsu Lifebook TH40/D looks like a slate-style tablet PC running Windows 7. But there’s a slide-out keyboard tucked away behind the screen.

The Lifebook TH40/D features a 1.5 GHz Intel Atom Z670 Oak Trail processor, 1GB of RAM, a 120GB hard drive, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, and a 03.MP camera. It has 2 USB ports, an SD card slot and an HDMI port.

The computer weighs about 2.4 pounds and measures 0.69 inches thick. That’s not bad by laptop standards, but it makes the Lifebook pretty thick and heavy compared to modern consumer tablets such as the Apple iPad 2 or virtually every Android tablet on the market right now.

Fujitsu will begin offering the Lifebook TH40/D in Japan in late June.

  1. Any idea if the 1.8″ drive is ZIF or micro-SATA? If it’s micro-SATA, an Intel X-18M could certainly turn the tables. It worked wonders for my Fujitsu P1630, although I admit that the P1630 still has an advantage with its Core 2 Duo processor…

  2. definitely underpowered for a full Windows 7 OS, Win7 embedded would be nice if MS could get it out the door.

  3. Between the 4200rpm HD and the 1GB of RAM, I wouldn’t even want to try this thing ! (Thinking back to the bog-slow U820)
