Google Android 3.1 is now rolling out to Motorola XOOM tablets, and my test unit received the update this morning, so I thought it was time for a little tour. Overall the tablet feels faster thanks to improved hardware graphics acceleration, smoother system animations, and improved web browser performance.
Interestingly, while the tablet scored higher in some benchmark tests after the update, it scored lower on other tests. This might have more to do with the benchmarks than with actual performance though.
Android 3.1 brings improvements to the task switcher, home screen widgets, and new controls for the web browser. You can check out my hands-on video below, or hit up Mobiputing for more photos and details.
