Dell has finally gotten around to adding an official price tag to the Dell Streak 7 WiFi tablet on its web site. You can place an order today for $399.99 and expect the tablet to ship in a little under a week.

What’s interesting is that Amazon has been taking orders for the tablet since Tuesday — and Amazon is charging about $20 less for the WiFi tablet.

The Dell Streak 7 features a 7 inch, 800 x 480 pixel display, a 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra dual core processor, 16GB of storage, and Google Android 2.2. Dell also offers a model with an HSPA+ modem for $199.99 when you sign up for a 2-year contract with T-Mobile or for $449.99 when you don’t.

  1. Hmm. Is there anything about the Streak that makes it worth more than the WiFi version of the Galaxy Tab? That’s even cheaper (by $30 or $50, depending) at Amazon.

These two tablets seem remarkably similar. Same stock OS version, camera configuration, etc. The Dell has a newer processor, and a 5MP rather than 3.2MP camera — those are the only differences that leap out.

Battery life is better on the Tab, from what I’m finding in random google searches; to me, that would be a bigger factor in a tablet than processor speed, at least within any close range. YMMV.

Note: even if they were the same price, my own leaning would be to favor Samsung over Dell for a product that is to me identical, based on my experiences with products from each. But, partly because of that, I haven’t had as much recent experience with Dell, so maybe that’s way off base.

    Dell fans, explain 🙂

    1. You forgot that the Galaxy Tab also comes with a much better resolution (1024X600).

    2. I bought the 5″ Streak version and thought it was okay but returned it after 2 days. What’s atrocious about Dell (the Streak being the second product I bought from them) is that they sold me a refurb unit WITHOUT telling me it was a refurb. Coupled that with their awful (to Dante’s 9th Circle of Hell) customer service, and I will never patronized Dell even if they have good products.
