Asus has introduced a line of accessories for its sold-out Eee Pad Transfomer tablet. The $499 tablet runs Google Android 3.0, has a 10.1 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel display and a 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor.

We already knew Asus was offering an optional keyboard dock which transforms the tablet into a sort of Android laptop. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Here are some of the other accessories that will be available:

  • Protective sleeve which doubles as a stand… and looks an awful lot like Apple’s Smart Cover for the iPad 2
  • Travel kit with interchangeable plugs for charging the tablet in pretty much any nation around the globe
  • Desktop stand for charging, synchronization, and use with peripherals thanks to 2 USB ports and a headphone jack
  • SD card and USB flash drive readers
  • Mini HDMI to VGA cable
  • Headphones

You can find more details at Eee PC.it, Blogeee, and the Asus Italy Facebook page. Unfortunately there’s still no news on the pricing or availability of these accessories.

  1. This is like the hardware equivalent of “apps”. Charge you more money for something with less features, and then offer a bunch of “extras” just to get the device to approximate the functionality of a cheaper, more complete device. So futuristic!

    1. You do understand you are talking about the cheapest tablet out there, with better built in hardware than most right?
