Asus Sleeve Case for the Eee Pad Transformer now available

04/28/2011 at 1:22 PM by Brad Linder Leave a Comment

Asus introduced a series of accessories for the Eee Pad Transformer this week, including a Sleeve which bears a passing resemblance to the Apple Smart Cover for the iPad 2. The Asus Sleeve Case for the Transformer is now available from Amazon for $39.99

.

Like the Apple Smart Cover, the sleeve can be used to cover the tablet’s screen, but you can also fold the cover into a triangle and use it as a stand for the tablet. Unlike the Smart Cover though, the Asus Sleeve actually protects the front and back of the tablet, since you squeeze the tablet into a pocket in the sleeve.

That’s all well and good, but there’s one problem with the sleeve case — it protects the tablet, but not the optional keyboard dock. If you plan on using the Transformer without a keyboard, the case looks like it could be useful. But if you plan to buy the $150 keyboard dock and use the Eee Pad Transformer like a netbook, you’ll probably want to invest in a generic 10 inch netbook case or slip cover.
