The Asus Eee Pad Transformer may have just hit the market this month, but Asus has already pushed out a software update for the 10 inch Android tablet. The folks at Eee PC.it grabbed the new software and report that it comes with a handful of new applications including mydesktop, an app that lets you remote control a Windows PC, myCloud (which I’m betting is a way to access the web-based storage service Asus offers to laptop customers), and some social software.
The Eee Pad Transformer runs Google Android 3.0.1 Honeycomb and has a 1280 x 800 pixel capacitive touchscreen display. It’s available for purchase in the US, UK, and Taiwan, but the tablet has been in short supply.
While the software update sounds promising, the apps could also be considered bloatware if you’re not looking for cloud storage or remote desktop functionality. But what really sets the Transformer apart from other tablets are the optional $150 keyboard dock which turns the tablet into a sort of laptop and the relatively low starting price of $399 for the tablet alone.
