The Acer Iconia Tab W500 is a 10 inch Windows 7 tablet with an AMD processor and Radeon HD graphics. The tablet also has a keyboard docking station allowing you to use the W500 in laptop or tablet mode. The computer went up for pre-order in Germany last month, where it’s expected to start shipping on April 14th. Now it looks like it could be available in the US a day later.
B&H is taking orders for the tablet for $549 with an estimated ship date of Friday, April 15th.
The Acer Iconia Tab W500 has a 10.1 inch 1280 x 800 pixel display, a 1 GHz AMD C-50 dual core processor, Radeon HD 6250 graphics, and runs Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit.
The tablet features 2GB of DDR3 memory and a 32GB solid state disk. It has 802.11b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth, 2 USB 2.0 ports, Ethernet, and HDMI ports as well as two webcams.
The spec sheet says you should be able to 6 hours of battery life from the 3 cell battery, but based on my experience with AMD C-50 powered computers, that sounds optimistic.
The Iconia Tab W500 measures 10.8″ x 7.6″ x 0.6″ and weighs 2.1 pounds.
