Sprint has announced plans to offer a new 7 inch tablet called the HTC EVO View 4G. If it looks familiar, that’s because it’s the same tablet HTC unveiled at Mobile World Congress last month when it was called the HTC Flyer. But you know how US carriers like to put their own names on things.
The Sprint version of the tablet will connect to the wireless carrier’s 3G and 4G WiMAX networks, which is certainly one point in the tablet’s favor.
The HTC EVO 4G features a 7 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel touchscreen display that supports both finger and stylus input. There’s a 1.5 GHz single core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor powering the tablet, and a 5MP camera on the back as well as a front-facing 1.3MP camera. The tablet has 1GB of RAM, 32G of storage, and a microSD card slot for expansion. It supports 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS.
Sprint will offer a mobile hotspot feature with the tablet, allowing you to share the EVO View 4G’s internet connection with up to 8 other WiFi devices. The tablet will come with Blockbuster On Demand software preloaded for video rentals, as well as Sprint entertainment software.
The tablet measure 7.7″ x 4.4″ x 0.5″ and weighs just under 15 ounces.
The HTC EVO 4G is due out this summer. There’s no word on the pricing.
