Amazon UK

A few weeks ago we saw the first evidence that a WiFi-only version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 inch Android tablet was on the way. Now Android Community has spotted a pre-order page at Amazon UK suggesting the tablet will be available on March 31st in the UK for £299.

That’s about $477 US, but since there’s no VAT in the US, consumer electronics tend to be cheaper on this side of the Atlantic.

I still haven’t spotted any US stores with listings for the Samsung Galaxy Tab P1010 WiFi tablet, but last I’d heard, the tablet was set to ship on April 4th for about $399.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab features a 7 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel capacitive touchscreen display, a 1 GHz Samsung Hummingbird processor, 16GB of storage, and Google Android 2.2.

  1. you are looking for a 3G-enabled model and are willing to sign up for a service contract, you can get the tablet for even less from most wireless carriers.

  2. “..since there’s no VAT in the US..” is very misleading. The fact that prices aren’t advertised with sales tax or that its not called “value added tax” doesn’t mean “there’s no” such tax in the USA!? In fact it only means the prices in the US is **MORE MISLEADING** as they are never “what you see is what you get”!

P.S. In most states nowadays you are supposed to even pay “use tax” on anything bought from another state online, equal to the sales tax in amount.
