Nokia may be best known for making smartphones, but according to two patent applications, it looks like the company may be getting ready to enter the tablet space.
It’s not clear what operating system these devices would run, but MeeGo Linux seems like a possibility. While Nokia is shifting its smartphone focus to Windows Phone 7, the company is continuing to invest some energy in the MeeGo space. Nokia’s partner Intel recently showed off designs for MeeGo software optimized to run on tablet computers.
Of course, just because a company files for a patent doesn’t mean it will necessarily release a product. But at this point, I’d be surprised if there’s a consumer electronics company that’s not planning to launch a tablet by year’s end.

“Nokia seeks patents for tablet designs”
A 7″ MeeGo tablet made by Nokia would be VERY interesting, i’d buy it without a doubt.
There is still life in MeeGo yet, at least so far as Nokia is concerned.
