Silk worms photo by Jeremiah Ro

Silk is one of the strongest materials on earth… but it takes an awful lot of it to build anything that really takes advantage of its strength. But researchers in Taiwan have reportedly discovered a way to use silk in flexible displays, which means we could eventually see eBook readers, monitors, and other devices with screens made partly from silk.

The researchers are talking to manufacturers about using the new technology, but so far nobody has committed to building a silk screen. No, no that kind of silk screen.

We are covering ourselves and our world in plastic, and we will starting to pay the price with interested due very soon.
