It took a few days longer than expected, but the folks at Netbook Navigator have started taking pre-orders for the Nav7 tablet. The little guy has a 7 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel multitouch display, a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom Z530 processor, and runs Windows 7. The Nav7 has a starting price of $649 and orders placed today are expected to ship in late May.
The base model comes with 1GB of RAM, a 16GB solid state disk, WiFi, Bluetooth, 2 USB ports, and an Ethernet jack. For $649, you don’t get an operating system. Windows 7 Home Premium will drive up the price to $749. Windows 7 Professional and Ultimate are also avaialble.
You can also configure the Nav7 with 32GB of 64GB of storage, 2Gb of RAM, and an optional 3G model. If you want to go all out, a top of the line model will run you $1249.
The Nav7 may not be the cheapest Windows tablet around, but the company gets points for offering a number of configuration options and for offering one of the first Windows 7 tablets with a 7 inch display.
