Quanta Computers is an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) in Taiwan, so you don’t typically see computers sold under the Quanta brand name. Instead major PC makers contract with Quanta to build devices which are sold under different names. But every now and then, an upcoming device makes it as far as the FCC web site still wearing its Quanta branding. Case in point: The Quanta QV3A tablet hit the FCC this week.
There’s not a lot of information about the tablet at the moment, but you can read the test results indicating that the tablet has WiFi and Bluetooth wireless connections. There’s no word on 3G or 4G mobile broadband.
The tablet appears to have a front-facing webcam, microSD card slot, micro USB port, and a headphone jack, as well as Home, Menu, and other buttons below the screen suggesting the tablet will run Google Android 2.x or earlier.
It could be a while before the tablet makes it to market. The confidentiality request which keeps us from seeing photos or a user manual says the planned release date is August 9th, although that date could change.
