Most major PC and phone makers that offer Android devices have come up with a suite of custom widgets, program launchers, and other utilities to give the operating system a custom feel. Dell’s no stranger to the custom UI space, offering what it calls its Stage UI on Android tablets such as the Dell Streak 5 inch tablet/smartphone and the new Dell Streak 7 tablet. But Android Community reports that while the Stage UI is currently nothing to write home about, Dell plans to add a feature to Stage that will let users synchronize data between Dell phones, tablets, and computers.

The software will reportedly move photos, video, and other content from your mobile device wirelessly to your PC as soon as you’re within range of your home network. So you could take photos or shoot video on the go, and automatically back it up to a computer without having to remember to connect your phone or tablet via a USB cable and manually copy and paste your media.

The Stage UI could also make it possible to stream media from a PC to a mobile device or to remotely control a computer from a phone or tablet.

Android Community says that the Stage software won’t be available exclusively for Dell PCs — but the version that will be available for download on other brands of Windows computers may not have all the features available on Dell computers.
