Chinese device maker ZTE has introduced a new Android tablet that will be one of the first devices to ship with Pixel Qi’s new 7 inch sunlight readable display. The new tablet is called the ZTE Light 2 and it features a 1 GHz processor, 4GB of storage, and runs Google Android 2.2. It measures less than half an inch thick.

I first got a chance to check out the new 7 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel screen at CES last month, and just like Pixel Qi’s larger displays, the 7 inch panel is a dual-mode display, working as a full color LCD screen when used with a backlight, and functioning as a high-contrast, black and white display that’s viewable in direct sunlight using ambient lighting when the backlight is off.

  1. A 7″ tablet with Pixel Qi sounds IDEAL to me. Depending on how well the touchscreen works, I may spend my playbook money on this. Hmmmm…

  2. Well, AFAIK they have ANNOUNCED a 3Qi equipped tablet, but they haven’t SHOWN it yet. JKK has seen a standard display Light 2, not a 3Qi equiped one.

I just wonder if its internals (9 months old) could let ZTE offer a competitive price. I wish so.
