Samsung has confirmed plans to launch a WiFi-only version of the Galaxy Tab 7 inch Android tablet in the US, and now we have a time-frame. The Tab should ship in the first quarter of 2011.

Aside from the lack of a 3G modem, the new tab will be virtually identical to the models already available from AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, and US Cellular. The Tab will continue to have a 7 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel TFT display, a 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird processor, 16GB of storage, 1.3MP and 3MP cameras, a 4000mAH battery, Adobe Flash 10.1 support, and Android 2.2 Froyo.

Like it’s 3G sibling, the WiFi-only tab will continue to provide access to the Android Market and other Google apps including Google Maps with Navigation.

There’s no official word on pricing, although Best Buy seemed poised to offer it for $500 a few months back.
