Pandigital has launched a new version of the company’s Android tablet/eBook Reader devices, this time with support for AT&T wireless data connectivity. The Pandigital Multimedia Novel has a 9 inch color touchscreen display and runs Google Android 2.0. It comes with access to the Barnes & Noble digital book store for downloading and reading eBooks.
The tablet runs $279.99, which is a bit more than the company’s WiFi-only tablets, but that’s not surprising given the built-in 3G modem. AT&T and Pandigital are offering the Multimeida Novel contract-free, which means you can pay for AT&T access by the month, or choose not to use it at all.
Update: It turns out that the contract-free AT&T wireless service is only for downloading books. You can only surf the web over WiFi.
The Novel should be available from “several national retailers” this month.
