HP Slate 500

HP has scheduled a webOS-related press event for next month, which was already enough to get a lot of people thinking about a webOS tablet. But now HP vice president Todd Bradley has pretty much spelled it out. In an interview with CNBC, he answered a few questions about the event, saying that the company will have a set of announcements and that webOS is suited for more than just phones… and that February 9th will be time to talk about the company’s strategy for taking on the iPad.

Of course, it should come as no surprise that HP sees webOS as a tablet-friendly operating system. We’ve been hearing it from the company for months, and to be honest the BlackBerry PlayBook OS looks an awful lot like webOS.
