Hands-on with the Lenovo ThinkPad X120e

01/06/2011 at 9:00 AM by Brad Linder 7 Comments

If the laptop in the picture above looks familiar, there’s a good reason for that. It’s the Lenovo ThinkPad X120e, a brand new business-class laptop which looks almost exactly like the Lenovo ThinkPad X100e… a year-old business class laptop. There’s exactly one difference in the case design: The new model has an HDMI port. See it there, between the vent and the USB port?

But this is a case where it’s what’s inside that counts. The X120e has a new AMD E-350 dual core processor which offers better graphics performance in a more energy efficient package. While Lenovo says the X100e laptop got about 5 hours of battery life with a 6 cell battery (which I confirmed with my own tests), the new model reportedly gets closer to 6.6 hours.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X120 will start shipping in February for $400 and up.

With Lenovo, the E-350 + 2GB RAM + Bluetooth + decent size hard drive + Win7Pro = So Not $400. Still, this is the ‘serious’ Fusion laptop to beat for the moment.

Considering that HP DM1 with the same CPU scored around the same as K series Turion the only reasons to get this refreshed is cooler laptop and better battery life, which is to be evaluated in real life still.
I hope within this year AMD churns out more powerful E series dual core to compete with Intels CULV i3/i5’s and that could fit current X120e chassis.

It is Lenovo ThinkPad X120e, a cast new business-class laptop which looks about absolutely like the Lenovo ThinkPad X100 a year-old business chic laptop. The X120e has a new AMD E-350 bi-fold amount processor which offers bigger cartoon achievement in a added activity able package.
