Cable giant Comcast has announced plans to let subscribers stream live and On Demand content to the Apple iPad later to the iPad and Android tablets.
Comcast already offers an Xfinity TV app for iPad which lets users view program guides, schedule recordings, or use the tablet as a TV remote control. Later this year, the company will add the ability to watch On Demand programming including movies and TV shows. At launch, 3,000 hours of content will be available, with Comcast rolling out more videos as time goes on.
While the initial focus is on the iPad, Comcast promises to bring the service to Android tablets in 2011 as well.
