MSI started showing off its new U270 laptop with an AMD Zacate chip last week in Taiwan. But instead of flying out to Taiwan to see the laptop, I waited until I could check it out at CES in Vegas.

It’s a nice looking machine, although the touchpad is noticeably small, and the computer has a somewhat cheap plastic feel. Hopefully these are signs that it will carry a low price tag.

The MSI U270 has an 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display and a 1.6GHz AMD E-350 dual core processor. It has AMD Radeon HD 6310 graphics on the same chip as the CPU. The computer has 4GB of RAM and the model I saw had a 250GB ard drive. It has 3 USB ports, (one is a USB 3.0 port), VGA, and HDMI output. The computer runs Windows 7 Home Premium.

  1. They have their heads out of their A$$es at MSI. Stupid HP and others love to dump old technology on everyone.

  2. why 11.6″? you are 100% it is 11.6″? the as a U2xx it should be 12.1″ :S

    1. Everyone, except Fudzilla, appears to have reported it as 11.6″, but you are right that the model number indicates this should have been a 12.1″ but companies have been known to make exceptions to the rule.

  3. damn it, so many compromises!

i love the inclusion of the single USB3 port, but hate the plasticky design and tiny touchpad.

whereas the nicer HP and Lenovo zacate machines don’t have USB3.

    🙁
