Samsung has been showing off the Galaxy Player overseas for a little while, but now it looks like the Android-powered portable media player is coming to the US… at least for a week. Samsung Hub reports that Samsung will showcase the little guy at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next month.

The Galaxy Player is sort of what you get if you take a Samsung Galaxy S smartphone, rip out the cellular capabilities, and make room for a digital TV tuner option (which may only be available in countries that support the T-DMB standard).

The device has a 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird processor, a 4 inch, 800 x 480 pixel LCD display, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, a 3.2MP rear camera and a VGA front-facing camera. The Galaxy Player can handle HD video playback and supports the Google Android Market.

There’s still no word on pricing or availability in the US… and it’s worth keeping in mind that not every item that gets showcased at CES makes it to market in the US. But it’s certainly a good start.
