Lenovo IdeaPad U1 Hybrid

We’ve been hearing for a while that Lenovo would launch its upcoming Android tablet in China before deciding whether to offer the product in other countries. That makes sense, since Lenovo’s home base is in China, and the company took a similar strategy with last year’s launch of the LePhone Android handset.

But I’d kind of been assuming that the first LePad would look a lot like the 10 inch tablet that Lenovo showed off almost a year ago as part of the IdeaPad U1 Hybrid (which also had a detachable computer running a separate operating system). Now Digitimes is reporting that Lenovo could be set to launch a 7  inch LePad tablet in China this month.

The tablet will run Google Android, and that’s about all DigiTimes is reporting at the moment. It’s not clear if this means Lenovo has decided to shrink the LePad, or if the company will offer tablets in 7 and 10 inch form factors. This is also a tip from an anonymous source, so I’d take it with a grain of salt for now.
