Picture this: You draw or write something on your iPod touch, and it instantly shows up on a wireless display that’s linked to your iPod touch over a web connection. That’s exactly what young engineer Saeki Yoshiyasu has put together. He’s creatively used a Arduino, with a WebSocket server he wrote with Pythan/Tornado and utilizes HTML5, to allow him to use his iPod Touch and Safari (also can use Chome) browser to control a Graphic LCD to display anything he draws or writes with his iPod Touch, and potentially any other compatible device.

While input is accomplished with iOS Safari by use of either a finger or touch pen, but with Google Chrome the input works as a mouse cursor and means you can also use this system with any computer that can run Chrome and has either a mouse or touch interface.

Remote notifications are just one of the obvious potential applications. Like with many Arduino DIY projects the only real limits are the extent of your imagination and of course technical skills.

You can check the youtube video demonstration below and if interested you can check the details of the project, along with others he has done at SAEKI Yoshiyasu’s EngineeringException blog.

  1. If you write or draw something on your iPod touch, it can be displayed on the Graphic LCD. Actually, Safari browser has a full control to display it. You can check on the Apple iPhone Support as they can give you the proper detail.
