The Entourage Pocket Edge is a combination eBook reader and Android tablet… but while that might bring to mind a device that looks like the new Barnes & Noble NOOKcolor, with a single LCD display that you can use to surf the web, run apps, or read eBooks, the Pocket Edge is something different: A dual screen device with an E Ink screen and an LCD display.

Basically the Pocket Edge is a smaller version of the Edge reader I checked out at CES in January. While the original had two 10 inch screens, the new model has a 6 inch E Ink touchscreen display and a 7 inch, 800 x 480 pixel LCD display side by side.

The Pocket Edge has  4GB of storage, a 2MP camera, 802.11b/g/ WiFi, a microSD  card slot, and it weighs 1.35 pounds. The company boasts 12 hours of battery life — but I suspect that will depend on how you use the device. You’ll can get excellent battery life out of devices with E Ink displays since the screen only draws power when you’re “changing” the page, but the LCD display will be much more power hungry.

We first caught wind of the new Pocket Edge in September, when word on the street was that it would be available with a 3G modem from Verizon. There’s still no word on the 3G version, but Amazon is taking pre-orders for the Pocket Edge for $399.99.

You can also buy one today from HSN, if you’re willing to pay $499.90.
