Archos 101 Android tablet dissected

11/07/2010 at 11:03 AM by Brad Linder 4 Comments

The Archos 101 Android tablet with a 10 inch multitouch display might not be shipping in the US yet… but one French user has already managed to get his hands on one — and he’s taken it apart to see what makes it tick.

It’s hard to make out details from the image above, but you can hit up the Archos Lounge forum for more close-up shots showing the battery, USB ports, and other elements.

It’s not exactly the prettiest device I’ve ever seen dissected — and the reason the user dissected his was because he was trying to find a screw that was causing some problems. But with an expected starting price under $300, it’s hard to find another tablet this cheap with Google Android 2.2, a 10.1 inch capacitive touchscreen display, a G-sensor, and a 1GHz processor with support for HD video playback. I’m going to hold final judgment until I get a review unit though.

Battery run time will vary according to how you use it, but it’s suppose to be better than average, and starting suggested retail prices is $299…

There’s a message board dedicated to these Archos tablets you can check out to see what actual users are reporting…
