Rumors of a Motorola branded tablet have been making the rounds for a while, and with Motorola offering a line of popular Android phones on Verizon’s network in the US it should come as little surprise that Engadget is reporting that the upcoming Motorola Tablet will be available from Verizon. This information comes as part of a series of leaks regarding upcoming products from Verizon, and as with all leaks it’s probably best to take the news with a grain of salt.
That said, if Engadget’s information is correct, the Motorola Stingray tablet will feature a 10 inch display, an NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, 16GB of storage, and it will run Google Android 3.0 Gingerbread.
Engadget also reports that the tablet will ship with a CDMA 3G modem, but it will be “hardware upgradeable to LTE,” which means that you may be able to add support for Verizon’s upcoming 4G mobile broadband network with a USB dongle or similar upgrade. Or maybe that just means that Motorola and Verizon will be able to easily upgrade the hardware to ship out a separate LTE version once the network is ready to go.
Oh yeah, Engadget says the Stingray should be available during the first quarter of 2011.
