The Samsung Galaxy Tab isn’t the only 7 inch Google Android tablet coming to Best Buy this fall. The retailer announced yesterday that it would start taking pre-orders for the Huawei S7 as well as the Sprint and Verizon versions of the Samsung Galaxy Tab. Even better, the S7 will run about half the price of the Galaxy Tab, at just $299.
The Huawei S7 tablet has a 7 inch, 800 x 480 pixel resistive touchsreen display, a 768MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 and runs Android 2.1. It features a 2MP rear-facing camera and a 0.3MP front-facing camera.
The tablet has a 2200mAh battery, microSD card slot and USB port. It’s one of only a handful of 7 inch tablets available right now with full access to the Google Android Market.
While a 3G capable version of the S7 is available for pre-order from Expansys for $359, the Best Buy model is WiFi-only.
Update The Best Buy pre-order page is up, with a list price of $299.99 and estimates ship dates around November 7th.

better off with a Galaxy Tab 800 x 480 on a 7 inch is kind of pixelated. Galaxy Tab has 1024 x 600. https://GalaxyTabForum.com
The resistive screen is a good one. At first play, I thought it was capacitive. No multitouch. Replaceable battery and 3g makes this a good thing.
Also, it has a front and rear camera, bluetooth, and gps. It’s like a giant 7″ android phone.
Is the S7 multitouch?
This doesn’t look much better than the average Chinese tablet. For this category, the $299 seems quite expensive.
Now, a Tegra2 or OMAP4 machine for this price would be quite OK.
give it a year and all these “tablets” will be selling cheaper than netbooks with similar specs as good netbooks.
$299 with a resistive screen? No Thanks.
In Germany comes a 169€ Android 2.2 Tablet (7inch, 800MHz)

Why settle for 7 inches and Android 2.1 when the Archos 101 will have 10 inches and Android 2.2 for nearly same announced price ??
Show me the Archos 101 running Android 2.2. I bet you you can’t.
2.2, like both the 70 and 101, is delayed but it will be released as an update and since 70 and 101 may not come out till November anyway that they may have the 2.2 already installed.
Only potential problem is Archos tend to do FW updates by reflashing the whole system each time and people may have to re-install apps afterward for those who have gotten a 2.8-4.3 Archos already.
Oh wait it is wifi only … might as well get an archos or something.
Whoops, sorry about that. I missed the WiFi only part on my first pass over the press release. Looks like you’ll have to stick with Expansys and a higher price for the 3G model.
Nice! I know it has a resistive screen but if it is a good one then there shouldn’t be a problem. Was looking for one with 3g and cell capabilities but I cannot afford something like the tab.
